Van Gough Tissue Paper Town

Summary: This project was based on Van Gough's famous Starry Night piece. Students were required to create their own sky scene of a town or different place. Students used small shreds of tissue paper to create the top half of the piece. These shreds were stuck down to the paper using a substance such as modge podge. This substance would make the paper stick while also sealing off the paper. Then, students could use crayons, oil pastels, or sharpies to create extra patterns and designs in the sky. On the bottom half of the piece, students used black construction paper to create a cityscape.

Extension Activity: This project could be integrated with a social studies lesson based on different biomes. Students could choose a biome and create a scene that looks like the biome while still including different art elements in the project!
