Hidden Safari

Summary: The hidden safari project was an example of a project that incorporated both color theory and patterns. The patterns shown in the picture above are drawn on top of a drawing of a safari animal to hide the animal. The animal is drawn with a blue colored pencil while the patterns are drawn using warm colors such as orange, red, and yellow. Then, students use a piece of red film to view the project and see the hidden animal under the patterns.

Extension Activity: This project could be integrated with a science lesson about animals and their habitats. Students could research an animal, their characteristics, and their habitats. Then, students could draw the animal in their habitat under the warm color patterns. Additionally, students could write a small description of the project to outline their research with the project.
