Pastel Light Bulbs
Summary: For this project, students created a string of lights about them. At the start of the lesson, students had to color their bulbs different colors depending on different answers to questions. Students cut out light bulbs using a pattern and then colored these light bulbs using oil pastels. Then, the students had to smudge or smear the light bulbs to create a glowing effect.
Extension Activity: This project could easily be integrated into the classroom using several different subject areas. For language arts, students could use a writing prompt to write about the light bulb's viewpoint of Christmas from wherever they are located. I.e. a tree, house, store, etc. This would be a great way for students to use their creative thinking skills to write a short story and draw an image that goes with it.
